Mixed reaction depending on the art, but appears to be within the spectrum of baseline human variation for both participants, and further leisure experienced in discussion of differing reactions|| |Aromatherapy|Certain smells trigger emotional responses, based on cultural associations, memory associations, and complex biological processes.|Analysis of scents resulted in no notable emotional triggers, but did reveal contamination in scented candle supply chain which has been reported to the manufacturer|Lettstat has no nose. How do they smell? Terrible!| |Jokes|Shared bonding over humorous references, humour affect often able to pierce through more negative affects and "defuse the tension"|Jokes increasingly effective after repeated experimentation and analysis of patterns, however habitual humorous habits appear to have contaminated results of other studies - jokes effective for relaxation, but should be isolated from other relaxation research|| //This continues for several hundred rows// =====Family Dinner===== The ten of them sat around the table - four of them enthusiastically digging in to the meal Roseanna and Six had prepared, while some of the others enjoyed themselves with a complex strategy game. Roseanna busied herself with all the duties and small tasks a host can find to do - despite the protestations of the others that none of it was required, and the attempts by her spouse to take on the work and make sure Roseanna got as much time with her family as possible. MK 3's aggressive play was dominating the board, as the game continued - though S managed to undermine her at every turn, choosing her battles and striking with precision and strategy against MK3's relentless assault. Roxy was happy enough to let them fight it out, as her pieces roamed the board scooping up victory points left carelessly unattended by the others. All three of those had been difficult to get here - Roxy had revealed her true nature to Perkins in a tearful reunion a few weeks before, but was still wary - and her old professional rivalry with S took a while to become more of a competitive friendship. MK 3 hadn't really seen the point, at first - sure, some of the games were useful tactical practice, but they were nothing compared to proper training, and her initial interactions with several of the siblings had been somewhat defensive. S was just busy - NI5 took as much oversight as ever, more now that Epicentre was a bit more familiar with operating in the shadows (making the villains better at hiding, and better at spotting NI5's operations), so getting her there was mostly a matter of making absolutely sure the others at NI5 could jump on any crisis that came up, and a promise from Rat to S to keep her informed of any emergencies((and from Rat to Roseanna to only do this if ABSOLUTELY necessary)). Those capable of eating the food were doing so with enthusiasm and complements to the chefs- or in Bartholomew's case, as enthusiastic as his relatively sedate manner ever got. Barty had moved out a few months back - having secured some work in one of the hospital branches in the Quiverwoods. Perkins couldn't help but smile as she watched her creations enjoying themselves. She was getting a little older now, her greying hair a reminder that she was not as ageless as the others - but her current job gave her plenty of time to spend with each of them, helping them to make their own lives and sharing in their triumphs and troubles. There was no questioning why Ria was there - Roseanna had invited her here, and if Roseanna considered her family then none of the others were going to argue. There may be some parts of their conversation she couldn't relate to, having neither worked nor been created by Argon - but no less than the SANA prototypes occasionally ended up talking past each other due to their very different life experiences. The last of the plates set on the table had been piled high and was being demolished with eager enjoyment. Four had only had a biological body for a short while, after making it themselves when they wished to leave the Cult of the Unknown, and was always up for experiencing the new tastes and smells of a delicious meal, or for exploring the world beyond her previous confinement to the ichor pit. The gathering went on well into the night - the family catching up with each other, sharing news and plans for the future, and just enjoying a moment of peace and quiet. =====Re: Robot Rights===== >To: NI5 Robot Rights division >CC: Underlings Union non-biological members special interest group >From: Caroline Chen, Discreet Enabling Head of PR >As previously agreed, we have paused the production of new DES units during these negotiations. The activity referred to in your previous communication - which your agents attempted to sabotage last week - is construction as part of our backup and restore program, and an upgrade program which we are running for first-generation DES units during what would otherwise be a period of downtime. Audit logs are attached for your review, suitably anonymised to protect the details of our customers. >If you believe that the best way to save DES units from a "life of oppression" is to remove their access to functional immortality, then we cannot continue with these negotiations. >If you believe that we offer this service only to "keep the DES units under our yoke for eternity", then you will be pleased to note that we are currently discussing integration of the service into the Union's healthcare plan, for DES units independent of DE who are a part of the Union. There will, of course, be a cost associated with this - we are a business, in the end, and this does require significant resources. I say this only to keep up the polite fiction that I'm not just negotiating with essentially the same people at NI5 and at the Union, but at least in the latter case there are a broader range of interests represented including both "controlled" and "liberated" (to use your terms) DES units in the Special Interest Group. >We note that DES units are less likely to take the days off that they are entitled to than other Underlings. We also note that both our studies and studies commissioned by the Union have shown that this pattern is consistent for both DE-owned DES units and independent units, and shows a much weaker correlation with the Villain Underling Freedom Index than equivalent statistics for human underlings. DES units generally want to work, and will generally choose work over leisure time. >We also note in passing that the data shows several points of high VUFI and low take-up of leisure time for human underlings - representing organisations where underlings are committed to their work and tend not to take breaks due to loyalty and perceived importance of their job. Other data suggests that NI5 is likely one of these points. >As noted by the Non-Biological Members Special Interest Group following the "mandatory food ration incident" and the resulting clean-up, non-biological underlings often have very different needs to human and other biological underlings, and this must be considered in any agreement which might affect them. >Regards, >Caroline Chen, DE Head of PR >//This communication has been reviewed and approved by the Underlings Union representative for Discreet Enabling (a DES unit), and with their employee advisory board (comprising 60% DES units)//
